Delhi can feel like three cities stacked on top of each other: Old Delhi’s lanes and lassi, New Delhi’s wide roads and monuments, and a café-heavy modern side. This 2-day plan gives you a taste of each without running you into the ground.

Day 1 – Old Delhi + New Delhi icons

Morning: Old Delhi walk

  • Start near Jama Masjid and wander the lanes around Chandni Chowk.
  • Try a lassi or chaat from a well-reviewed shop.
  • Use the Metro or an app cab instead of random autos for longer hops.

Afternoon: India Gate & Rajpath area

Head to India Gate, walk the lawns, and then move toward Rashtrapati Bhavan for wide-road photo walks. You don’t need to tick every government building – the vibe is what matters.

Evening: Connaught Place

Circle the inner and outer rings, browse bookshops, and pick a simple dinner spot. If you’re tired, an early night is better than another thing on the list.

Day 2 – Culture + cafés

Morning: Humayun’s Tomb or Qutub Minar

Pick one major monument and give it time instead of rushing both.

Afternoon: Lodhi Art District & Lodhi Garden

Street art, green spaces, and a calmer side of the city. A great place to decompress after loud markets.

Transport tip: Delhi Metro is often faster and more predictable than road traffic. Keep a metro card and a maps app handy for quick route checks.

Delhi will probably still overwhelm you at least once – that’s part of the experience. But with this structure, you’re never far from a café, park, or quiet lane where you can reset.
